The Ben-Gurion House was built in 1930-1931 with the establishment of the first workers’ neighborhood, Workers’ Neighborhood I. The house was built on the land of the National Fund for Israel. The house was expanded in 1946, and renovated again in 1960. The house served as the permanent home of Paula and David Ben-Gurion until they settled in Sde Boker. Then it was used as their home, alternately, with their barracks in Sde Boker, until the death of David Ben-Gurion in 1973.Since 1974, the house has been opened to the public and displays original items that highlight landmarks in the period before the establishment of the state and in the years after, illuminating chapters in the vision and legacy of David Ben-Gurion.Today, the house serves as a historical museum, an educational and cultural center and a unique study ground for subjects that interested Ben-Gurion and emerged from his rich library. From the belief that Ben-Gurion’s private house in Tel Aviv is not just a house, but a symbol of Ben-Gurion’s leadership, we propose to use it to go behind the scenes of a leader’s life. You are invited to sit in his private library and let the historical story that took place within the walls of the house be a lever for an open educational-value discourse as well as about the past, the present and the future.
